How to Keep the Same Character in Every Shot of an AI Video
4 min read
AI video models invent a new face every time unless you give them a reference. A character library fixes that: you create the person once and reuse the same portrait in every scene.
Create the character once
In the Character Library, describe the person and generate a portrait from the prompt. Keep the description concrete: age range, hair, clothing and mood. Generating portraits is free.
Mention them with @ in the scene
Type @ in a scene prompt and pick the character. The scene is then rendered from that portrait using an image-to-video model, so the same face appears from shot to shot. A shot can include up to four characters.
Repeat the key details in every prompt
Restate the outfit and any props in each scene so the model does not drift. Short, consistent wording beats long, changing descriptions.
Use a product shot when there is no actor
Many ads feature food, a product or a place instead of a person. In that case you do not need a character: keep the style words, lighting and colour palette identical across scenes for a consistent look.
